Fifteen quartets written across more than three decades form a musical diary without words. Public history and private experience run alongside one another: abrupt contrasts, recurring gestures and silences return from one work to the next, changed by time.
Presented over five concerts, the cycle invites the audience to follow those connections rather than encounter each quartet in isolation. An apparently simple phrase can recall a work heard the evening before; a silence can acquire a different meaning through memory.
At the centre of the project is sustained listening: remaining with one composer long enough to hear a language transform across an entire lifetime.
